The Mathematics Department offers a large selection of courses in various areas of pure and applied mathematics, at different levels of mathematical sophistication. The Department offers Bachelor of Science (BSC) Majors and Honours programs in Mathematics and in Mathematics combined with another subject, such as Economics, Physics, or Computer Science.

Students currently in year 2 or beyond who wish to transfer to any BSC Mathematics Major/Combined Major/Honours program except the Combined Major/Honours program in Economics and Mathematics must complete the online application form.

The application form opens between May 1 and May 20 each year. Decisions will be made at the end of May, and students will be notified about decisions by email. Completion of requirements will be confirmed before admission offers are made.

Applicants to Combined programs should also consult the other department if its programs are not open to students for self-declaration. You may be required to submit a separate application to the other department. Applicants to the Combined Major/Honours program in Economics and Mathematics must apply directly through the Vancouver School of Economics.

Admission Requirements:

Students applying for admission by transfer from year 2 of the BSC must meet the following requirements.

1. 6 credits of first-year Calculus, equivalent to MATH 100 and 101
2. 6 credits that satisfy the BSC Communication Requirement
3. One of MATH 200, 217, or 226
4. One of MATH 221 or 223
5. MATH 220 (students who complete MATH 226 are exempt from MATH 220)
6. 3 credits of the Computing Requirement chosen from CPSC 110 or CPSC 103+107, or MATH 210

Selection is competitive, and based on the entire post-secondary transcript.
