The University of British Columbia offers graduate programs in Applied
Mathematics and Mathematical Biology leading to the MSc. and PhD. degrees.
Students apply via a home department (e.g. Mathematics, Zoology, etc) by filling
out online applications,
or by requesting paper applications by mail. Most of our
Mathematical-Biology students are accepted under the Institute of Applied Mathematics (IAM)
graduate program. More information about the application procedures can be

Funding opportunities
The majority of our students hold full or partial scholarships.
We offer additional funding as necessary
from teaching (TA) and research (RA) assistantships. The TA support is
connected with teaching-related activities (tutoring, marking, or, once
trained, teaching a full course). The RA support is provided by the
student's supervisor for work on some common research project.
Canadians and permanent residents of Canada should apply for funding from national and provincial sources, in particular NSERC. All students at UBC can also apply for university graduate fellowships (UGF).
Several students have recently
held paid ACCELERATE BC and MITACS internships in nonacademic settings during their degree programs.
