The UBC Mathematics Department is involved in
activites where our academic pursuits intersect
with other segments of our community. Here are some of
the outreach programs and projects we are engaged in:
- Industry Outreach
Our department has history and interest in working on
mathematical problems from Industry. This collaboration
between our faculty members and companies and government
agencies can take several forms: contract work, graduate
student internships, and larger collaborative research

- Elementary and Secondary School Outreach
Education is a core mission and we have a
vested interest in the mathematical education of
students, even before they arrive at our door.
We are active in organizing workshops that expose,
excite and challenge students in mathematical
thought. We also participate in hosting national
and international mathematical examinations,
and do studies that correlate secondary school
and University first-year academic performance.
