Polynomial automorphisms
The polynomial algebra in n variables is a fundamental object in algebra and
geometry. Its symmetries (automorphisms) constitute a group whose properties
were studied by many researchers, using techniques from algebraic groups,
algebraic geometry, representation theory, commutative algebra, complex analysis
and topology. This subject is related to a number of famous conjectures. In
recent decades there have been important developments in this area; I will
survey them in this talk.

Refreshments will be served at 2:45 p.m. in the Faculty Lounge,
Math Annex (Room 1115).
